Home Improvement - Art Installation By Atlanta's Homeless Youth

ChopArt is pleased to present our annual exhibition Home Improvement! Through our service and outreach, we've seen the impact that homelessness has on teens and children. Our programming empowers homeless youth to create a sense of home, and to explore a more positive future.

Home Improvement is a partnership between ChopArt, the homeless youth we serve, and the shelters that support their wellbeing. Each participant has created a work of art, made from everyday household items and furniture, to sell to provide financial support for their creative endeavors.

Attendees will enjoy a cash bar, and will have a chance to meet the artists and learn more about their work firsthand. Our Host Committee will also receive a small gift from our partner countries and a handwritten note from one of our youth artists.

Home is so much more than four walls, though often we forget how the items decorating our homes also decorate our hearts, holding immense sentimental value and importance to us. Our youth's latest art installation serves as a stark reminder of just how important the concept of "home", the thing we so often take for granted, truly is.

Presenting shelters: Families First, Nicholas House, My Sister's House, and Rainbow House.

Host Committee: Nicole Morado, Charith Fernando, Shalon Bell, Jewel Thompson, Erica Jamison, Matt Steadman.

Also, please consider making a larger donation prior to or during the event either through Eventbrite or through the donate button found here. All proceeds directly benefit the children in our participating shelters.

Volunteer opportunities are available for the two-week, arts-intensive annual summer camp, Camp Envision, which is July 8-16. Interested in learning more and/or volunteering? Click here.
